Through four seasons of NBC staple The Office, I laughed, I commiserated, I related, and then I laughed even more. But last year’s fifth season led me to wonder whether I could EVER stand to watch again. The show has often bordered on the ridiculous, but last season went past Ridiculous City and parked in Absurd County. Even Idris Elba couldn’t keep me tuned in.
However, I’ve *invested* so much time into this usually well-done show over the years that I decided to give the new sixth series one more chance. A few episodes in and I’m delightedly hooked; The Office is back with a vengeance and I couldn’t be happier.
From close-to-the-vest Stanley getting caught having an extramarital affair to the office staff turning on Jim in his new position as co-manager to the laugh riot that was Jim and Pam’s wedding, this season has truly brought the laughs. With the economy still *recessed* and companies continually shedding jobs, Americans are stressed out and need relief wherever they can get it. I for one am thrilled to once again schedule Thursday nights at 9 on NBC as my dedicated laugh time.
